Please Help Drummers Collective

Drummer’s Collective, where I studied intensely in the late ’80s, is asking for donations to help them overcome some financial troubles. They moved their facility, and then had to move back to their original location due to some complex legal issues related to noise complaints with their neighbors at the intended new location.

This institution has a special place in my heart—I practiced and studied there for several great years.

Check out this video that explains the issues they face, and then donate at www.fundanything.com if you are able.

Bad Signs #1

If you checked out my post on “Good Signs” the other day, where I wrote about great music related art, you might guess that there is another side to the coin.

Yup. Bad signs. They are everywhere. A lot of them can found tacked up to bulletin boards near rehearsal studios and in similar places. I know it’s low hanging fruit, but I can’t resist.

I don’t recommend that you make a handwritten sign like this. Not particularly good marketing.

Just sayin.

Hundreds of Guitarists with Me On Drums

This Friday, June 21st, from 4 to 7 pm, Make Music NY invades Union Square Park in NYC.

And, like last year,  I will be drumming with hundreds of guitarists, playing songs by Judas Priest, Florence and the Machine, The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater, and The Lumineers.  My friends at the NYC Guitar School have been doing this epic event for a few years now, and I was honored last year, and this year, to be the drummer.  So, yes, I will be playing with the biggest band ever!  Hundreds of guitarists!

The show is sponsored by Guitar World magazine, and many of their editors will be playing as well.   One last cool thing:  Mark Stewart, guitarist for Paul Simon, will be playing so I will have the pleasure of playing with him.   Pretty sweet.

Just to give you a sense of this event, check out this video from last year. You’ll see me in there and a whole bunch of guitarists.

GOOD SIGNS #1

I am obsessed with the art of music and musicians. It makes sense, right? Growing up loving music, I would stare at the album covers and artwork of my favorite bands. I love it. It’s a great art form.

And when it’s great, I want to share it with you. When it’s terrible, or mis-spelled, or horribly designed or conceived, I want to share it with you too, because those are worth seeing just for a laugh.

Happily, today I want to show you something great. And, as a bonus, MANCIE is a part of it.

Here it is.

Upcoming Gigs with MANCIE

In case you don’t know MANCIE, I’ve been playing with this little powerhouse of a rock band for the last few years.

You can hear a bunch of our stuff on my “Listen” page, but for more, you should check out the MANCIE website, MANCIEmusic.com or just go to Spotify or iTunes. All of MANCIE’s recorded output is available there.

Our Next gig:

FRI, JUNE 14th: LIT LOUNGE

Why should you come check out this show if you can?

Well, first of all…hello!!!  Can you say, “hot chicks rocking”!!???

What would be wrong with that?   Yup.  Check out that photo.  See me?  The one guy in the band?  I am VERY lucky to get to play in a band like this.

Second, the music is good! Here, check out this track:

Oh, and did I mention hot chicks rocking’?
