New Video: “Sybil” LIVE

This live clip of Mark Feldman’s LEVEL5 was shot at NYC’s The Bitter End. The band features Mark on drums with Gene Segal (guitar), Jon Price (bass) and Steve Blanco (keys). This snippet features a great solo by Steve Blanco. The tune was written by Oz Noy exclusively for LEVEL5.

Listen with headphones if you can because the sound is fantastic. The show was recorded multi track by Ryoji Hata and mixed by Roman Klun. Enjoy!

“Performance Anxiety” Podcast Interview

I recently was interviewed by Marc Shea on his cool podcast, “Performance Anxiety.”

Marc really did his homework before interviewing me and that made for a very interesting conversation. We hit on a lot of things that haven’t come up in other interviews I’ve done.

I think it’s entertaining…. I hope you agree.

Here it is:

Great Press for LEVEL5’s Debut

The Sybil EP, my debut release as a leader and as a producer, was released on February 22nd.

The three song EP is now on all the streaming services.

You can check it out on Spotify here: STREAM on SPOTIFY

We’ve also been getting some great press. If you simply google “Mark Feldmans LEVEL5,” a bunch of the reviews will come up, but below are some excerpted quotes:
——————————————————————————————————–

“LEVEL5 rival The Meters at their dirtiest and funkiest or the best moments of Medeski, Martin and Wood.”

“LEVEL5’s debut is an instrumental feast, filled with catchy funk and prog twists and turns.”

“THREE AND ONE-HALF STARS. Jazz-rock fusion may have peaked in popularity back in the 1970s, but it has remained an integral sub-set of jazz ever since. That said, those traits that undermined its force back then—fake funk and over-emphasis on technique—have remained so pervasive within the hybrid that truly distinctive entries in the genre are few and far between. The Sybil EP by Mark Feldman’s Level 5, however, is one of those rare and welcome exceptions.”

I’m really excited about playing drums for the 2nd set of the Elton John tribute put on by the fabulous team at FBOMB. The festivities begin at 11pm at Arlene’s Grocery on Saturday, 10/27/18.

I’ll be doing my best Nigel Olsson behind the drums…

See you there.

Double Drumming w Kenny Grohowski in Zriku

Zriku: Double Drumming Edition

Hey Everyone!

I’m excited to tell you that I’ll be double drumming alongside Kenny Grohowski with Zriku, the great rock band that my good friends Steve Blanco and Megan Kerper put together. The story of how this happened is pretty cool…check it out…

Well, a fluke transportation situation required that I fill in for Kenny on drums a few weeks ago. My debut with Zriku was fun, but ill-prepared. I had like two hours to try learn the material. I survived that show….

But now, the really fun part… Steve thought, “what if Zriku had two drummers?”

And next thing you know, the double drumming version of Zriku, with both Kenny and me playing, was born. We had a rehearsal last night, and I have to tell you, it was pretty cool!!

So…. we’re off! Gigs to be announced shortly!
